Derek Fahey practices insurance defense, personal injury, intellectual property law litigation and patent prosecution.
Derek enjoyed his childhood on the Caribbean island of Trinidad and moved to Florida in 1989. Derek graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida State University with a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Engineering and as a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. After graduating from Florida State University, Derek worked as a Senior Field Engineer for Schlumberger, an oilfield service company. There, Derek worked in various locations around the world including Algeria, Canada, Oklahoma and France. With Schlumberger, Derek conducted petro-physical surveys to evaluate hydrocarbon reservoirs. Derek left Schlumberger to work with Florida Power and Light (FPL) as an Engineering Project Manager. At FPL, Derek designed electrical distribution for large-scale construction development projects. In 2010, Derek graduated on the Dean’s list from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Prior to joining the firm, Derek worked with Kain and Associates, an intellectual property firm.
Derek is a member of the Florida bar and a patent attorney licensed to practice by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
