Jim Clark is a native of Miami, Florida. He graduated from the University of Florida with an undergraduate degree in Political Science. He attended the Spessard L. Holland School of Law at the University of Florida where he was a member of the International Moot Court Board. After passing the bar in 1973, he began his career as an attorney specializing in insurance defense, wrongful death, and complex litigation matters. Since his admission to the bar, he has tried in excess of 300 jury trials in Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Monroe Counties and in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Additionally, he has engaged in an active appellate court practice and has participated in over 200 appeals. He is admitted to the Florida Bar and the Bars of the U.S. Southern District, the Middle District of Florida and the U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Jim Clark was appointed by the Chief Judge to the Ad Hoc Trial Practices Committee for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in Dade County, Florida, has served on the Florida Bar's Insurance Practices Special Study Committee, and is a member of the Florida Bar's Professional Ethics Committee. He was selected by his peers, for having exceptional abilities and ethics, to be an AV rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, and has been listed in Who's Who in American Law since 1994.
He has recently been recognized by Florida Trends Magazine as one of Florida’s Legal Elite. This is a list of the top 868 lawyers in the State that are held in the highest regard by other lawyers. Jim has also been named as one of Law and Politic’s “Florida Super Lawyers.” These are lawyers recognized as being in the top 5% in the State.
Jim Clark is designated as a Board Certified Civil Trial Attorney by the Florida Bar. He has recently honored by the Florida Bar when it named him as Board Certified in Appellate Practice. This appellate certification has only been granted to 154 lawyers around the State. Jim is only the sixth lawyer in the State to hold Board Certifications in both Civil Practice and Appellate Practice.
Jim has also served on the Professionalism and Appellate Practices Committees of both the Dade County Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
